Planning Commission

The update to Newport City’s Comprehensive Municipal Plan is the first major update since the early 2000’s. The Municipal Plan establishes the City’s core priorities and addresses a wide range of topics including land use, housing, and economic development. The Municipal Plan Update builds upon the many past efforts of the City, including planning for the downtown, waterfront, and recreational areas.

The City has been awarded a Bylaw Modernization Grant and is working with PlaceSense’ Brandy Saxton. Public meetings will take place in the late summer and early fall.
