The City of Newport accepts recyclable material in two categories:
Containers and Fibers...materials in each category can be combined.
As of 1/1/04 all recyclable products may be commingled at our facility.
STYROFOAM IS NOT ACCEPTABLE

Year 2011 Household Hazardous Waste Collection Days
This is a great opportunity to dispose of those old paints, pesticides, and cleaning products you have in your basement or garage.

New England Waste Services of Vermont, Inc. Landfill on Airport Road in Coventry
These events are FREE through an agreement with your municipality
A Business may bring waste to the event for a fee, provided you have contacted NEWSVT to make prior arrangements for drop-off time.
No pre-registration is necessary unless you are a business, but proof of residency will be required.
What is a household hazardous waste?
A household hazardous waste is any discarded household material that can be classified as
toxic, corrosive, flammable or reactive.
Materials Accepted at the Event:
Acids, Adhesives, Aerosols, Antifreeze, Brake Fluid, Cements, Charcoal Lighters, Chlorine, Cleaning Fluid, CRT Monitors, Computers, Degreasers, Disinfectants, Drain Cleaners, Dry Gas, Electronics, Epoxies, Dyes, Fiberglass Resins, Flea Powders, Furniture Strippers, Hair Removers, Herbicides, Insect Repellents, Lacquers, Lubricants, Mothballs or Flakes, Nail Polish Removers, Oven Cleaners, Latex Paints, Oil Based Paints, Paint Removers, Paint Thinners, Permanent Solutions, Pesticides, Photo chemicals, Rat Poisons, Rug & Upholstery Cleaners, Rust Solvents, Wood Preservatives, Spot Removers, Televisions, Toilet Bowl Cleaners, Tub and Tile Cleaners, Turpentine, Varnish, Weed Killers, Wood Polishes, Wood Stains, Fluorescent Light tubes, Mercury containing products.
Materials NOT Accepted at the Event:
Automotive and Marine Batteries, Tires, Explosives or Shock-Sensitive Materials, Ammunition, Radio-Active Wastes, Pathological Wastes, Infectious Waste, Medicines, Dioxins, PCB containing light ballasts, PCB containing smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, propane/torch cylinders.
