 COMMUNITY CITIZEN AWARD 

       Director of the Newport Senior Center, Brenda Landry, was given the Community Citizen Award at an opening meeting of Navy Grange #497 held on Tuesday evening, April 18, at the Newport Senior Center.  Brenda has also received certificates as a Certified Leader of the Strong Living Program, as a member of the Community Response team and for attending the Summit for Successful Living.  She has also been recognized for leadership by the Department of Aging and Independent Living.  Reg Shafe of the Newport Recreation Department spoke briefly concerning the help Brenda has been to the Department; Master of Navy Grange, Wendy Bucanan, noted the appreciation of the Grange for a place to meet and for the special occasion decorations; Evelyn Reynolds of the Newport Senior Center also spoke briefly.
