The City Clerk’s Office is open from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8:00 a.m. until noon on Friday’s.

Property Taxes (Bills containing 2 coupons are sent 1 time per year in October)
Due November 15th and May 15th

This is the only property tax bill that will be mailed.  If you wish for a receipt, please include a stamped envelope.

Utilities (bills are sent quarterly)
Due March 15th, June 15th, September 15th, and December 15th

The bills explain that all taxes not paid by the final due date become delinquent with an 8% penalty and a 1% interest per month added to late payments. Payments must be received in the office by the due date, not the postmark, in order to avoid interest.

The City sends monthly reminders of amounts past due with interest and penalty.   If someone cannot pay in full, they are encouraged to contact the delinquent tax collector and work out a payment plan.  Please call (802) 334-5136 or email jonathan.delabruere@newportvermont.org

The City Clerk’s Office oversees Land Records, Elections & Voting, Civil Marriage Licenses, Dog Licenses, Vital Records, Entertainment Permits, and Liquor & Tobacco Licenses. For Liquor & Tobacco Licenses please contact State Liquor Control Board for the application.

The City Treasurer’s Office is responsible for the day to day financial operations of the city.
